Course Directive: Create a New Course Directive

Step 1

Find the requirement in the DPR that needs an exception. From the “Create Exception” drop down menu, select Course Directive and click Go.

Step 2

Enter a note in the Exception Note text box.

Step 3

Select the course you want to add into the Course Directive from the UCSC Courses, Transfer Credit, and/or Test Credit sections. You can add as many courses as necessary, and courses can be from multiple sections. Use the Collapse All button to easily navigate between course sections.

Select Substitute to allow the course to count toward the requirement.

Select Exclude to not allow the course to count toward the requirement.

Step 4

Check the Directed Courses section to ensure the course(s) entered are accurate, then click Save and Reprocess DPR.

You’ll return to the requirement in the DPR where you can see the Course Directive you just created.
